Mesquite Nevada Stakes

Elder Jacob Nelson

Season 2, Episode 2 (The one where he turned 19!!)

What is up everybody!!!! I hope you all had such an amazing week!!! Week 2 in the field and it was so amazing. There were so many miricles and it was so fun. Lets get into it. On wednesday we had zone conference and Elder Gimenez was there. He touched on finding the why on your mission. I really thought about that and decided I needed to find my why. The rest of wednesday was good we just had a couple lessons. That night I prayed and asked that I could find my why. The next morning I was doing personal study and I read a section in PMG and it talked about being christlike and so I studed a little more on how I could be more christlike in missionary work. I found some answers. That day I put what I found to work. I think that it was the most rewarding day so far. There was a new found joy I found when I looked at an talked to people as Jesus would, children of God. It was the most amazing feeling.

Friday we had exchanges and I was with Elder Huish and I learned a little bit of spanish and how to be a little more bold. It was a good day. Friday night was so amazing. While on exchanges we went on splits with the APs and I was with Elder Tua one. We went to 2 lessons and I felt the spirit so much during those lessons because I really focused on following the spirit and being christlike. It was great. Our friends definently felt the spirit as well it was a cool experience.

We had a couple miricles saterday through monday that were pretty awsome. Elder Arzac and I decided saturday night that we would really work hard and talk to everyone for an hour. At the end of that hour we found Thomas and Alita at their aunts house. We stopped by and we were able to teach their aunt and Thomas, who is 9, was able to help us and it was really cool. Sunday was busy but rewarding. They had a thing they did at 1:30 church that I thought was interesting. It was called a "linger longer" so they had food and ate after church in the gym. It was pretty cool. Overall I learned a whole lot this week and I am so exited to keep learning more and becoming a better missionary everyday.

Highlights!!

- Had one of the best meals I will probably get on the mission.

- Learned what a linger longer was. #bringittomesquite *wink* *wink*

- Found a whole family

- Turned 19!!

- Got to talk to ben and that was the best present!!

Word on the street!!

Alita and Thomas: They are progressing a lot and they are getting close to being on date or baptism. They just need parent permission. Tommorrow they should get it so that is super cool. They are so fun to teach because they really love learning.

Yolanda: So Yolanda is actually Alita and Thomas' grandma. We were trying to catch the kids and we got sent to their grandmas house and we taught their grandma and she wants to learn more so thats cool.

Aaliya: So basically if you dont see a theme here we found like the whole family. lol. Aaliya is the kids aunt we saw outside. She is busy with work but was interested in baptism which was pretty cool.

Everyone from last week arent really progressing so we will see what happens this week if they decide otherwise.

Spiritual thought!!:

So this week has been full of a lot of different experiences. One thing that stuck out the most and touched my heart the most was the word "Faith" and what it means and how to use it.

First, when I think of faith it goes hand in hand with the word hope. They cant really work without each other. Lets use an example. If I was going through a trial in my life and I turned to my savior for help I would have faith that he could help me and a hope that it is going to be alright.

I love a thought this lady gave when we were eating dinner. She said Faith starts with a dark room. In that dark room you can see just barely whats in front of you. If you take a step you can see a little more and a little more each step. As you go you see crooked chairs and so you straighten them and the light gets just a little brighter. As you keep moving and take steps you will start to see more and more that needs straightening. The paintings on the wall. The dishes on the counter. The dust on the cabinets. So you eventually see most of the room and it is nice and tidy. This thought reminds me of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we take those blind steps of faith we hope that we can better our lives or tidy our room. We start to see more then we are baptized or we start tidying the chairs and then we can see more and more. Then we receive the gift of the holy ghost which helps guide us to the next task like the paintings or the dishes. Then we start making covenants in the temple and again we can see more and we start straitening our house or in other words we start aligning our will with God's.

God promises us so many blessings as we try to align ourselves with him. Through Jesus Christ we can make ourselves better. He loves each of God's children so much and he knows our struggles and he knows what we are going through because he has suffered the pains, sorrows and heartaches for us and he knows exactly how we feel. As we take those steps of blind faith even when things get hard we will receive so many blessings and our life will be full of joy!!

I invite all of you, no matter where you are in your journey with God, to take a blind step of faith this week. Whether its reaching out to a neighbor, reading scriptures every night, or trusting God with your life. I know that as you do this you will be blessed with so much joy and happiness in your life.

I love you all!! You are all amazing and Heavenly Father loves all of you aswell!!!

Keep being awsome!!!

Feel free to email me and lmk how your weeks are!!!
