Elder Jacob Nelson
Season 1, Episode 3: Well that was quick
What is up everyone. Hope your guys' week was amazing. This week flew by. It's crazy that I'll be in idaho next week at this time. I'm soooo exited. Here's how this week went:
We went to the temple and lot this week and it was sooo amazing. The Payson temple is beautiful. It is so cool to see all the missionaries doing work in the temple. We have grown so much as a district. It's going to be hard to say goodbye next week. It's like we have known each other our whole lives. They are all amazing and they have helped me grow so much and im thankful for them.
This week new missionaries came in and i got to say hi to Kiler Kennedy and Gavyn Frederick which was pretty cool. After the temple on Tuesday it started raining and it was so cool. I love the rain. It was a nice change from the heat. We did 2 helping others appointments this week and if you don't know what that is its where we can practice teaching with real people. We learned that its just better to have a conversation rather than teaching from notes or a lesson. They both went really well and I felt the spirit so much and I was able to share some stories in my life which was pretty cool.
This week's highlights:
- We got rain!! (It hurt pretty bad iykyk)
- Oreos with peanut butter are fantastic
- I have never laughed more in my life than here. I think we have laughed at least 50% of the time we've been here.
- Got to say hi to friends from home
- Felt the spirit 🤙
Spiritual thought:
I kinda wanna talk a little bit about spiritual momentum today and what that means. In the April 2022 General Conference, President Nelson gave a talk about spiritual momentum. He talked about how momentum is a powerful concept. He gave examples of a pickup truck gaining speed or a disagreement that turns into an argument.
Then he talked about how this applies to spiritual momentum and this is what he said, "We have never needed positive spiritual momentum more than we do now, to counteract the speed with which evil and the darker signs of the times are intensifying. Positive spiritual momentum will keep us moving forward amid the fear and uncertainty created by pandemics, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and armed hostilities. Spiritual momentum can help us withstand the relentless, wicked attacks of the adversary and thwart his efforts to erode our personal spiritual foundation." This spiritual momentum is so powerful and I've seen this momentum change my life in the past couple weeks. Momentum doesn't just happen. Thats what the word means. It's a build up of something. After that build up it takes a lot to stop it. As we go about life we should try and build this spiritual momentum. Things like prayer, scripture study, service, going to church, remembering our covenants. All of those things help us to gain momentum for the times when something gets in our way. I can testify that as I read and pray and do the little, simple things in my life daily, I gets harder to stop doing those things and following christ when something gets in my way. I know that I have experienced so many blessings from this. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of you and he wants you to gain that momentum to push through any trial in your life. I can testify these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
I hope you guys have a great week!!! Keep me updated feel free to share your experiences with an email. I love you all!!
