Batismo de Dionel
This week was a good one. There were some great things that happened this week! Tuesday was the Independence Day of Moçambique and that was pretty cool. One of the members in our area is the Young Women's Presidente and so she asked us to invite some of the people that we are teaching, to an activity they were having. We brought one of the young women from a family we are teaching and she loved it! After that we walked with another member and it was great. We are teaching some of his friends now and they came to church this week! After that on Wednesday we taught a lot of people and that was really good, and on Thursday we went and visited the Americans again. This time one of the couples that wasn't there the last time was there and we talked and visited with them. They asked us some questions about things and it went really well. At the end we gave them pamphlets and ended with a prayer. It was really cool. On Friday we visited a man who just wanted to talk in English with us. He speaks pretty good and it was cool because he served a mission for his church as well but he understood the message really good. We also had the Baptismal Interview for Dionel!
So Dionel is a 10 year old who's family has been coming to church for the past two years or so and they just haven't been married yet. However their son Dionel wanted to be baptized and they wanted him to be baptized as well. So we taught him. Here's the thing though,he does not speak Portuguese. He only speaks Macuewa, the local dialect, and so we needed a translator. We taught him everything through his dad and that was pretty cool. When it came time to do the interview, the Branch President did it because he speaks Macuewa. The baptism was awesome and he chose me to baptize him. It was special being able to baptize him. How amazing is it that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will always find a way to bless other people. Even though there was a language barrier the Gospel of Jesus Christ was able to break through and bless his life. It is a testimony to me as I remember the promise in the scriptures, "28 And now I say unto you that the time shall come that the salvation of the Lord shall be declared to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people."- Mosiah 15:28 I am excited for his mom and dad to be baptized as well here in the new future and I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. This wonderful work will go on no matter what! I am so grateful to be a part of it and for all the blessings that the Lord gives to me. Entao até próxima semana. Obrigado aos todos! Tchau tchau!
