Que tal todos! I hope you had a great new years and enjoyed watching the steelers win the division 🤘🥳. New years in Ecuador was a diffrent experience than in the States. They have some weird traditions, more on that later. This week was kinda brutal for missionary work but there still were miricles everywhere. Vamos!

Highlights

-They replaced the Hermanas in our district with some Elders and its been a blast to get to know them.

-We had a crazy miricle happen on sunday, we got this media refrence that was seriously interested and would answer the phone (which is rare in Latacunga). We had a short lesson with her over the phone and she said she would come to church! Long story short we didnt relize she was attened church because we have never met her face to face. During second hour she came up to us asking how she can join the church! It was a complete shock to us because we didnt even know she was there or what she looked like. Wow, God is good.

- Another miricle happened when we were walking home from church and this family from across the street started yelling "Hello" 😂. This happens alot here and usally they just heckle us because we are the first gringos they have ever seen. We crossed the street and talked to them and they were awsome. Its a family of 8 and one of the sons told us he wants to learn more because hes seen alot of missionary social media posts. We got his contact and set up a date and time for a visit. 😁 Hopefully we can teach the whole family and help them receive the restored gosple!

Lowlights

- we watched 3 hours of missionary safty videos on new years eve😪

- I have bed bugs and they are impossible to get rid of. I wake up with 5 or more new bug bites every morning so im constantly itchy. Ive tried everything except a professional so I think thats the next step.

- We found out our friend who attendeds church every week isnt married to his girlfriend hes been living with for 20 years.😭

New Years in Ecuador

They have some cool new years traditions and some wild ones 😂. The cool one that was familiar thanks to Seph Montoya was jumping over a burning body. Dont worry its not a real body its fake stuffed with sawdust or made out of paper mache. They were everywhere but our mission president gave us strict instructions not to do it.

On to the weird tradition, its called vuidas locas, (crazy widows) its where all the young men dress like girls, more like drag queens 🤔. They were on the streets all day dancing, but its naughty dancing if you know what I mean 😂. They would have a rope across the street and pull it tight so that cars have to stop. Once they stop they give them a show 😭. Worst of all they expect to get payed and the Ecuadorians pay them! 🧑🏿‍🦯.

Spiritual Thought

I dont know If I shared this quote or not but im sharing it again lol. "You can either count the time or make the time count" its a banger, my brother Stetson always shares it. It applies to everyone. We are only this earth once for a limited amount of time so enjoy it. Its by Gods design we are here so make the time count by choosing to follow Christs example.
