WE MET A PIRATE

12/25/2025- 12/30/2025

Well it hasn't been all that long since last time, but Howdy!

Some of the adventures this week:

- Went to Eastern Passage. It's a part of our area right on the shore with little cute colorful stores and lots of fishing and such, it's VERY cute. And there was a store called Violet Unicorn which is an all yarn store (that's for you Alya(shes my sister that crochets and knits and such, she also goes by Rat)) Anyways, we studied by the ocean and then went home to home finding, everyone has been there a while and is pretty set on their beliefs but most are nice about it. AND THE SUNSET. It almost made me cry, jt was so pretty and reminded me of sunsets at home.

- Had a service finding afternoon. I had told Sister Smith we needed to get creative here, and that we should just go out one day and knock on doors to see if we can help people with anything, so we did the other day and it was fun! We shoveled a whole driveway and front yard which took most of it, and we found a less active member who invited us in and gave us cookies

- WE MET A PIRATE.😂😂 there was a guy at the bus stop that when we walked up just said “I am trying to be a pirate today” and we just laughed a little and didn't know quite what to say but he ended up being funny for the most part, he asked if I had a picture of Jesus in my pocket sarcastically and I was like ACTUALLY…I DO. And whipped one out. So then he kept a picture of Jesus. And a younger couple nearby was interested a bit and the young man even took a Book of Mormon. Good interaction!

- We met a Ukranian man who we think might be in love with Sis. Smith. 😬 it's been an adventure but he's really fun, his name is Eugene and he doesn't like his name LIKE IN TANGLED he has gone to the Elders in the area next to ours now. 😂

- Met a Haitian man over WhatsApp, who lives IN Haiti, honestly don't know how that works, but he said he was interested in learning more about the church from his “Sisters in Christ” HE SPEAKS ONLY FRENCH THOUGH and Sis Smith doesnt speak any french so its just me talking. My head hearts trying to process it all and then come up with a reply (Shout out to all of you in France, I feel for you) but somehow it works. GIFT OF TONGUES. We keep telling him we cant really teach him and need to send his number to his Sisters in Christ in Haiti but its a work in progress. And yesterday he was showing us his tosn and told me “Je t’aime tres forte” and tried to comvince us to move because its too cold here, Sis Smith thought it was funny. But anyways, long story short he is in the Haitian Sister’s hands now. Good luck Sisters! 😂

- Our friends went to church!! It was so exciting To meet them all and sit with them. There are some very elect people here. Leroy is one of them, he has tons of friends at church and it's so fun to watch him interact. He always has the biggest smile on his face.

- Our sink is broken…it's leaky and last night while trying to make dinner, I made it worse somehow. I DONT KNOW HOW. But I just really wanted my chicken thawed, anyways after struggling with it for a while, praying, dancing to “if you believe”, eating some icecream, and crying tears of laughter/slight frustration playing plumber trying to fix it, i just turned the water off for the sink all together. Doesn't leak anymore!😀 So that's a win in my eyes🥳

There's lots of those little fun adventures that keep us going and are just amazing memories. But overall, I think what has been super powerful these past days is seeing how Heavenly Father guides us to his people. How he helps us know where to go and when. And sometimes we don't even realize it until we are at the right spot at the perfect time to meet someone or to help someone, and then it's instant realization that it was Divinely inspired and orchestrated. It's incredible. We have made many friends which has been so fun and our leaders have reached out to know what it is that is working, because the area is pretty quiet usually. And all we can ever say is that it's not us, that Heavenly Father has been putting us in right places at the right times. I know that to be true. And I am thankful to be here at this time, in this place, with these people.

Spiritual Thought for the Week:

Prayer. On a mission you pray more than you can count and I have come to rely so Heavenly on prayer for EVERYTHING, more so than before. We get thrown into new situations new life styles and everything new and it can be so uncomfortable, so you pray like never before for help and guidance and strength far beyond your own. And I know Heavenly Father hears those prayers, each and every single one, and He answers them. He hears all of your prayers, every single one, (even the ones over lost keys or broken sinks) and He answers. In His own way, in His own time. But He does. And He is just eagerly waiting for us to turn to Him and talk to Him. I think sometimes He chuckles just thinking “you know…if you asked for some help finding those keys I might be able to make them *appear*” or in our hard times he cries just wanting us to reach for Him. Prayer is powerful. Talk with Him. He is waiting to hear from you.

Quote:

“Why do we keep looking for stuff in the ocean? Every time i turn around theres a new disgusting animal to look at. Like....can we eat it? NO. Does it taste good in butter? No. THEN ITS USELESS” -Sis. Pinscent

Hope the holidays were amazing! Let me know if you have any questions or just want to share, I'll do my best to answer! Love you all
