See attached file for details President Oaks taught the how and why of unselfish service: “Latter-day Saints are also renowned for their ability to unite in cooperative efforts. The Mormon pioneers who colonized the Intermountain West established our honored tradition of unselfish cooperation for the common good. Following in this tradition are our modern “Helping Hands” projects in many nations. . . Our members’ religious faith and Church service have taught them how to work in cooperative efforts to benefit the larger community. Because of this, Latter-day Saint volunteers are in great demand in education, local government, charitable causes, and countless other efforts that call for high skills in cooperative efforts and unselfish sacrifice of time and means. Some attribute our members’ willingness to sacrifice and their skills in cooperative efforts to our effective Church organization or to what skeptics mistakenly call “blind obedience.” Neither explanation is correct. No outside copying of our organization and no application of blind obedience could duplicate the record of this Church or the performance of its members. Our willingness to sacrifice and our skills in cooperative efforts come from our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, from the inspired teachings of our leaders, and from the commitments and covenants we knowingly make”. Thank you in advance for any service you are able give. With our love Mesquite Nevada Stake Presidency

Abbie "Abbe" Lee Green, age 68 of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on August 26, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family. Abbe was born in Saint George, Utah on May 7, 1954 to Don Lee and Lorena Ann Hardy Lee. She lived in Mesquite all her life and was a Virgin Valley Bulldog through and through. She was a cheerleader, a VV-ette, and held many leadership positions. After graduation, she attended Stephen Henagar Business College in Salt Lake City Utah. Abbe married Milton Andrew Green on August 26, 1975, in the Manti, Utah Temple. They later divorced. Abbe worked at the high school in different roles for 39 years and was an office manager for many years prior to retiring. She had a great love for the faculty, staff, and students at Virgin Valley High School. She retired July 31, 2021, after her battle with cancer made it impossible for her to work. Her words of advice at the end, "retire when you can and enjoy life." She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and loved to serve those around her. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crocheting, and she loved to watch her soap operas and reality TV shows. Abbe's life revolved around her two children. She never missed an activity in which they were involved. She was always on the sidelines cheering them on. Abbe had a lot of other kids that called her "mom". She took a lot of the students and adults from the school under her wing. Some of them probably would not have graduated if it hadn't been for her constant nagging to get their homework done. • Norman Evans Obituary

Norman Evans, 79, died August 20, 2022, at his home in Mesquite, Nevada after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born in American Fork, Utah on June 9, 1943 to Lillian Eva (McDonald) and John Isaac Evans, the sixth of seven children. His high school sweetheart, Saundra Kay Boyer joined him in Washington, DC and they married on October 10, 1962, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 21, 1964. Three sons joined their family; Scott, Todd and Shawn. After 41 years of marriage, Kaye passed on April 19, 2004. Norm was blessed a second time by meeting Linda Sue Hammel. They were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple on July 12, 2008. Four sons and one daughter were added to the family through this marriage. The joy of Norm’s life were their 28 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Norm didn’t need hobbies, as his family was all he wanted. The couple traveled to see as many of their grandchildren’s concerts and school sporting events as they could. He was always trying to get laughs with the grand-dad jokes which resulted in lots of “eye-rolls”, “mud hugs” and “car honking to chase away the elephants”. He stayed in touch with his family almost daily. He loved to talk to everyone, which was his best talent, and this explains all the friends who loved him. He often drove around the neighborhood in his golf cart checking on each neighbor. His smile and laughter will be missed by his family and friends.
