Norman Evans Obituary

Norman Evans, 79, died August 20, 2022, at his home in Mesquite, Nevada after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born in American Fork, Utah on June 9, 1943 to Lillian Eva (McDonald) and John Isaac Evans, the sixth of seven children. His high school sweetheart, Saundra Kay Boyer joined him in Washington, DC and they married on October 10, 1962, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 21, 1964. Three sons joined their family; Scott, Todd and Shawn. After 41 years of marriage, Kaye passed on April 19, 2004. Norm was blessed a second time by meeting Linda Sue Hammel. They were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple on July 12, 2008. Four sons and one daughter were added to the family through this marriage. The joy of Norm’s life were their 28 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Norm didn’t need hobbies, as his family was all he wanted. The couple traveled to see as many of their grandchildren’s concerts and school sporting events as they could. He was always trying to get laughs with the grand-dad jokes which resulted in lots of “eye-rolls”, “mud hugs” and “car honking to chase away the elephants”. He stayed in touch with his family almost daily. He loved to talk to everyone, which was his best talent, and this explains all the friends who loved him. He often drove around the neighborhood in his golf cart checking on each neighbor. His smile and laughter will be missed by his family and friends. Norm is survived by his wife, Linda, his sons; Scott (Yvonne) Evans of Chubbuck, ID; Todd (Dulcelia) Evans of Layton, UT; Shawn (Angelina) Evans of Queen Creek, AZ, stepchildren; John (Brandy) Mower of Las Vegas, NV; Michael (Chantel) Mower of San Tan Valley, AZ; Jeremy (Jennifer) Mower of Whittier, CA; Christopher Mower of Broomfield, CO; and Cyndi Mower Breeden of Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services are to be held Monday, August 29, 2022, with the viewing and services starting at 11:00 am, in the Bunkerville 8th Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 355 W. Virgin Ave, Bunkerville, NV. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. Arrangements furnished by Star Mortuary, Mesquite, NV.
