- Jack and Katherene Faught Obituary
Jack and Kathy, married for over 55 years, departed this earthly life minutes apart, hand in hand on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Southern Utah. Jack Gordon Faught was born August 9, 1946 in St. George to Henry Albert and Bessie Bundy Faught. Katherene Hardy Faught was born February 17, 1946 in Hurricane, Utah to Elwood Warren and Anna Scow Hardy. On May 28, 1966, Jack and Kathy were married in St. George LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Together, side by side, they completed this portion of their eternal journey. It is a tender mercy that they never have to know what it feels like to be alone. Theirs is a beautiful, yet tragic, fairy tale. Jack lived most of his life in the Virgin Valley. Jack was respected as a hard worker, problem solver and as an honest businessman. A man of his word. He could do a little bit of everything. He owned and operated Virgin Valley Disposal and was proud to work with his sons and to leave them with the future. He enjoyed working with his hands and on cars. He loved hunting and camping and going to their Pine Valley Cabin with his family. Kathy also lived most of her life in the Virgin Valley. She worked for many years as a bus driver. The final years of driving the bus, she slipped and fell from the bus steps. This was the beginning of her long history with chronic back pain. She enjoyed cross stitching, puzzles and supporting her children. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister and most especially, cherished being grandmother. Jack and Kathy were dedicated to each other and their family, and that always remained their priority. They always showed up. They were constantly serving and striving to lift. Their generosity was boundless. They worked together to create beautiful memories, especially for the Christmas and Easter holidays. They were influential and well respected in their community. They were both brokenhearted when they lost the companionship of their sweet dog of 12 years, Revo, last September. Survivors include one daughter, Kasandra (Andy) Leavitt of St. George; two sons: Elwood (Tara); Slade (Romy) both of Bunkerville; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. They were preceded in death by two twin grandsons, Reece and Riley Leavitt. Jack is survived by two brothers and four sisters: Lauretta Faught, Roy (Shari); Guy (Pat); Ramona Crane; Oneta Peterson and Winona Faught. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. Kathy is survived by one brother, Ronald (Venita) Hardy and one sister, Annette Threlkeld. She was preceded in death by one sister, Thenelda Myers. - Debra Jean Dumont (Lay) Judd Obituary
Debra Jean Dumont (Lay), 68, of Mesquite, NV, left behind friends and family on Sept 9, 2021 to begin a new journey. Debbie was born on Aug 2, 1953 to Donald Dumont and OraBelle Murray in Lewiston, Idaho. Her father passed away when she was quite young. Her mother remarried to Ralph Murray who was her father growing up and Grandpa to her children. Her father served in the military while she was a child so she lived in many places across the country growing up. He retired in Anchorage, Alaska which is where some very important moments took place in her life. Her time in Anchorage was significant because it was there that the Savior began to be the center of her life. It was also there that she met and fell in love with Dan while he was serving in the Navy. She married Daniel Harvey Lay on May 31, 1972. During their 26 year marriage, they also lived in various places across the country. Eventually they planted roots in Eatonville, Washington and that became home to her. They raised 5 children there who are her pride and joy. There wasn’t a thing that Mom wouldn’t do for her children. If you thought that her love for her children was extreme, it doesn’t compare to the love that she has for her grandchildren. She planned her life around her grandkids and they are the most precious to her. Attending birthday parties, sleep overs, ball games, primary programs, and school events were just a few of the things that filled her life with joy. Grandma was the role that she cherished the most in this life. Debbie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This membership brought many people into her life that she considered to be dear friends. She took time to foster those relationships and listen intently as news was shared with her about things going on in her friends’ lives. She was a good Friend to so many. She served with pride in many callings in the church. Her life revolved around the Lord, her family, and her friends. Debbie is survived by many nieces and nephews; her siblings: Chuck, Francille, Brian, and Celina; her children: Angelique Birch, Dan Lay Jr. (Emmy), Tonya Walker (Jeremy), Katrina Bruce (Jeremy) and Jon Lay; and dearest to her, the ones that own her heart, her grandkids, Easton, Vinny, Leo, Eva, Josie, Beaux, Hallie, Clancy, Madison, Wes, Lexie, Damon, and Arlana. - Sister Macie Bowler
Sister Macie Bowler has been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will serve in Billings Montana, speaking English. On September 27th, Macie will start her online Missionary Training. Sister Bowler, of the Mesquite 5th Ward , is the daughter of Misti Bowler and Rich Bowler. Sister Macie Bowler will speak September 12th, 2:00 pm in the Stake Center, 100 North Arrowhead Ln. Sister Macie Bowler's Testimony: I have a testimony that I know Heavenly Father answers our prayers and that he knows us by name. He loves us so much that He sent His only begotten son to die for us that we may return to live with Him someday. He knows that we will stumble and fall but all He wants is us to get up and to keep trying. I also have a strong testimony that Russell M. Nelson has been called of God to be the prophet of the church, to be a seer and Revelator. I also know that the gospel brings so much hope into a world that feels hopeless. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
