Vyonne Hughes, 81, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, NV. She was born on October 2, 1939 in Hurricane, UT to Jacob Arnold and Edith (Mangum) Anderson. She was married to Derald Eli Hughes on September 27, 1958 in the St. George, Utah Temple.
Vyonne attended school in Hurricane, UT, Burbank, CA, and Mesquite, NV with the latter being where she met her sweetheart and eternal companion.
She and Derald spent the early years of their marriage chasing road construction jobs around the state of Nevada. When their children became school age, they found more permanent residence in Las Vegas, where they remained until 1974. At that time, they made one final move home to Mesquite and continued raising their family.
Vyonne’s talents were almost too numerous to quantify. She was a talented seamstress, artist, crafter, cake decorator, crocheter, knitter, quilter, EMT, candy-maker, dancer, teacher, mother and wife.
She had several opportunities to travel including: trips to Japan and cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska and the Panama Canal. Her life was rich!
She is survived by her husband Derald of Mesquite, her six children; Valeri Morgan (Michael) Mesquite, Landon (Paula) Hurricane, Shaunna Cluff (Von) Paragonah, Trevor (Hiroko) Henderson, Devin (Ana) Bountiful, Byronna Hughes-Gaines, 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and also her sisters; Evelyn and Gwendolyn.
Viewings will be held Friday, September 10, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and on Saturday, September 11, from 9:00am - 10:30am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center on Arrowhead in Mesquite, NV. Funeral services will follow Saturday at 11:00am.
Interment will be at the Mesquite Cemetery under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary, 702-346-6060.
