d631ed93-39c2-49c8-a37b-076dd2dc32c2 Elder Booker Wakefield Back to Missionary Letters No es changa It has been a great slow and busy week here in Fray Bentos. Which is good because time was moving to fast in Oregon, and I need to most out of these last 7 months. When I first got here I could hardly understand any Spanish that I was hearing and it sucked🤣 but!! I can understand people now and talk enough to get my point across haha. I feel like I've come so far then I remember it's my first week. We've had milanesa almost everyday since I've been in Uruguay. Which is good cause it's way good! It's basically either chicken or beef flattened out, breaded and baked. So a giant chicken nugget. Then mayo the Uruguayans love mayo, it's insane. When we were doing Facebook we saw this gigantic spider, we tried to take a picture but it bolted and is currently hiding in my comps desk, so that's fun. We've had 12 lessons this week which is nuts compared to Oregon where lessons were pretty rare. I was reading Moroni 6:4 in Spanish the other day where it calls the Savior "the author and finisher of our faith." But in Spanish it is "el autor y perfeccionador de su fe." This little difference is so cool, through Him our faith can be made perfect! Anyway super short but a super cool distinction between the two languages! Have a faithfilled week! c30e07fe-3973-4c78-9571-e1b0af16194a Elder Booker Wakefielk Back to Missionary Letters First week in Salto Well our phone finally started working on Saturday. We had a few lessons drop because the streets are so messed up and we couldn't call them to find them😪. But we found a few and had some fun lessons. Elder Hopkins doesnt understand hardly any Uruguayo Spanish, but he speaks really well so I will translate for him sometimes then he can teach jaja. We took 1 whole photo since last pday so yeah. Our bishop is a police officer and he laid out all the areas where we can't be at night(like half of our area) and said to keep your phone in your pocket as much as possible. So that's been fun, we're in a pretty poor area here but the people are really humble and want to learn, it's been different than any area in my mission. I studied an awesome BYU devotional called, "Putting off the Natural man and becoming Saints." It's by Elder Cook and I love it! He relates a story about 2 horses he bought, Bob and Stubby. Bob was super friendly and stubby not so much. But after riding him for years he became a good horse and changed for the better, and how we need to be meekand to change. He tells is a LOT better than I just did so go read his talk. Have a great week!! Previous Letter Next Letter

a82b8bd8-fd5d-4ac1-a9e4-3dbec760fb0d Elder Andrew Maxfield Back to Missionary Letters Tennessee Has My Heart🧡 https://photos.app.goo.gl/6eFoMLcxApcTof8c7 Look at all these photos I've gotten over 2 years!! Well hello everybody. This is a day if mixed emotions for me. I have loved emailing everybody every week to share my experiences. It's been hard sometimes when I didn't feel like I had anything to share. And it's been really amazing to see what support I had when seeking miracles. I love being a missionary. I love being set apart from the world to do this great thing. But I know it's time for me to step into the world and help others as a member of the Church. I hope I can look back in another year from now and see that I've only grown in the gospel, and that I have made steady progress along the strait and narrow path. I have had a great last week. The highlight of the week was departing interviews with President and Sister Barlow. They both sat me down and spoke with me about my plans for when I get home and the things I'm nervous and anxious about. What they said about my mission was something I can't forget. They told me that I was finishing my mission exactly how they wanted me to, and that I had given all that I had. It's sometimes hard to hear answers from the Lord, so He sends His messengers to tell His children the answers they seek. That is what I desired to know. Was what I gave to the Lord good enough? And the answer is yes. As the scriptures say, "It is good". I kep having fun this week with Elder Collins and the district! I didn't do anything super fun for the 4th of July like last year! But it was still lots of fun because everybody else celebrated it! I said my goodbyes to the Kynastons. They've made an impact on my life in many ways. They've by far taken the most care of me while I've been here. I will be forever in their debt for their love for me. But I do hope I've been able to help them as they try to overcome their struggles. Lastly, I said goodbyes at church. It's been nice to say goodbyes knowing I will be leaving, there isn't any confusion as to whether I'm leaving or not😅 I love the Newport Branch! It won't be the Newport Branch for long, they'll be redrawing the boundaries soon to make it a ward, so I'm glad I got the privilege of being there to see it as the wonderful Branch it is. I spent 1/4 of my mission here, which is a darn long time to stay in one place. So I wish everybody here the best🫶🏻 I want to bear my testimony as I have the last couple weeks. First, I bore testimony of Jesus Christ, and then last week I bore testimony of Joseph Smith. This week, I stand as a solid sure witness of the true nature, firm foundation, and utter magnificence of the Book of Mormon. It is a sure witness that Jesus is the Christ, the living Son of the Living God. The Book of Mormon is the most correct book of any on earth, and stands as a companion to the Holy Bible. Ancient peoples here in the Americas did in fact keep a record of their dealings with God, and His love for them. If we learn even 1 truth from the Book of Mormon, there would be a point to all that they lived through. Please, read the Book. Pray to Know the truthfulness of what the pages contain. You will find your life changing for the better. I promise you this, as a messenger of God, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Elder Maxfield🟧⬜️🟧⬜️ TKM 2023-2025 For all who are on my email and might be curious to know, I fly home the 9th of July and my homecoming talk will be the 13th of July! My email address then will be amaxfield1112@gmail.com if there's anyone who would like to stay in touch! I'll be able to email starting the 10th probably😁 I love you all🫶🏻 Previous Letter Next Letter

9d45e123-343c-4a40-a834-afd8d65dea49 Elder Kirk Felix Back to Missionary Letters Èlder Felix- Update Hello everyone I hope you are all doing great! This last week was so good. Having the opportunity to really focus in on general conference is such a blessing because the words they speak truly are from god and no matter who you are you can apply their teachings in your life and you will become a better disciple of Jesus Christ. Lately I have been thinking about about enternal families and why families are important to me. It is a question that I often like to ask my friends as I am teaching them. My answer to this question is "family is where we can find the greatest joy in this world, when the family is inline with the teachings with the gospel of Jesus Christ we will find enternal happiness within our own familes!" I would love to hear from you guys. "Why is family important to you"? I hope you all have a great week! Much love, Èlder Felix Previous Letter Next Letter

acd3d118-de4f-4c6a-a3f8-6c8eb613191a Elder Hayden Johnson Back to Missionary Letters Alma 26. The last week of my mission Well... As most missions around the world that have been affected by the COVID-19 Virus the New Zealand Auckland Mission as also been affected. All the missionaries in Auckland have been put in heavy quarantine for the next 30 days. The Prime Minister of New Zealand has put the country in Level 4 Lock down which has prohibited ANYONE that is not a New Zealand resident to enter the borders. Thankfully for here in the cook islands there has not been any cases and they have restricted the borders that they most likely will not be receiving it soon. If it were to get here on Rarotonga.... It would cause havoc! Since there is not adequate hospitals and medical facilities it would most likely spread very fast. The area Presidency took that into consideration and requested that all the missionaries in the Cook Islands be sent back to New Zealand...... BUT since New Zealand has closed their borders only 2 of the Cook island missionaries that are New Zealand residence went back and the 6 American missionaries were informed we would be stuck here until further notice.... 😂 Then yesterday we just received information that New Zealand has allowed us to enter their borders just to transit immediately back to America.... Yea, back to America... Back home.... We all were discussing if we would be reassigned or not, but now the church has released that any Elder with less than 6 months will be released. I only have 5 months left on my missions which means when I return to America I will be released as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There is many different emotions that run through my heart at this time. How quickly all this happened.. How scary it is around the world with all the unknown.... But as cheesy as it may be, the feeling that I feel the most abundantly. Is gratitude. How thankful I am for a Prophet to guide us in these latter days. How thankful I am to have been able to serve the Lord with ALL my heart, might, mind and strength. How thankful I have been to receive a change of heart and the gift of a firm growing testimony. I now have placed myself upon the rock of my Savior and I will not be moved. I know the Book of Mormon is true, that any man will grow nearer to God by studying and applying its words. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, the only man that would be able to restore the Church of Christ in these Latter-days. I know the Plan of Salvation is real.... It brings me such peace to know the purpose of this life and to know where I am going after. I know that God lives and that He is aware of all of our situations, that He sent His own son, a perfect son, to suffer, bleed, and die so that we all may live. I have loved being a missionary for the Lord and just because I may take off the badge from my shirt. I will continue to serve the Lord wherever I may be. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me, messaged me, commented, or prayed for me... For I have felt the love and it has helped me throughout my mission. I no longer have to worry about the future because I know what I need to be doing now. I love you all Kia Kaha Kia Manuia Te Inangaro e au kotou❤️ -Orometua Ioane Tamaiti Previous Letter Next Letter

So fun! - Exchanges with New Prague! I went with Sister Wilson who is a brand new missionary! - Exchanges with Alexandria! They live 2 hours away so we got permission to stay the night! I literally thought an earthquake was happening - Lamb of God concert! - March madness! We're reading the whole Book of Mormon this month and I'm only 70 pages behind #gome - I hit 17 months as a missionary yesterday! Our friends are doing good! Sadly our friend Damoan who was on date for baptism is no longer on date. He hadn't been coming to church and he recently just lost a loved one which is so sad. So prayers for Damoan would be much appreciated! We are also teaching a super awesome friend named Kristian! Some missionaries in Chicago called us one night and told us they had a friend who just moved to Bloomington and is coming to church with us on Sunday and he did! We've been teaching him ever since and he is SO AWESOME! Lot's of miracles happening around here and God's hand is so evident in all of it! LOVE YOU ALL! Have the best week ever! 947b5232-77bd-4812-b70c-8f57073ccf21 Hanna Haviland Back to Missionary Letters Kumusta my dear friends, Today has been a very exciting day here at the MTC. All of the missionaries are very excited about the changes in the communication guidelines for missionaries. all in all I don't think that I have seen so many smiling faces on the MTC campus during my time here. Especially in our zone. The three districts that came in the same day that I did are anxiously awaiting our flight plans because, drum roll please, WE ONLY HAVE 10 DAYS LEFT IN THE MTC )insert correctly facing direction ) as well as 10 exclamation points because the key board I am using is kinda special and many of the keys are switched around....in case you were wondering, yes, it does make typing more difficult) I am still loving it here at the MTC and the language is still coming. Tuesday we were blessed to hear from another apostle. Elder Soares came and spoke to us about, you guessed it, obedience. But it was such an amazing talk. I am so grateful for all of the blessings we are promised if we are obedient to the commandments of our God. We actually had kind of a fun experience teaching this week. After teaching a lesson, Sister Stoker and I were having an evaluation with out teacher about how the lesson went. One of the first things that he said was that our Tagalog was magaling, in other words, our Tagalog was great. I kinda just looked at him for a second and then had to double check and make sure that I had heard him right because, well, I am fully aware that my Tagalog is less than ok, and then he and Sister Stoker just started laughing at me. Brother Lieshman, our teacher, then corrected himself and said that maybe it wasn't as great as he had originally thought because he likes to joke around...at least I hope. This week we also did an exercise where we were supposed to teach about what faith is in English and then teach it again in Tagalog. Can I just say that teaching in English was not only weird, but it was hard. I felt like I couldn't get all of the thoughts out that I wanted to say, how backwards is that. But I loved how teaching in Tagalog forced me to teach it more simply. Family and Friends I am so very thankful for the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon that teaches that doctrine so clearly. EMAIL PAUSE BECAUSE I JUST RECEIVED FLIGHT PLANS. that is all, I got excited. Any ways, after we had the experience teaching about faith we were able to do a gospel study about repentance. I read the scripture 2 Nephi chapter 26 verses 24 and 27. (ten out of ten would recommend reading) so much joy filled my heart in that moment and my desire to the truth of this gospel increased dramatically. My friends, the Savior always has his hands reaching out towards us. He is always inviting us to come unto Him and to find peace and joy through his atoning sacrifice. In other exciting news, this Wednesday we hit our one month mark. Which is so weird because I feel like I have only been here for a couple days. but I am so excited to be heading out so soon. That is all for this week. I hope that this upcoming week you are able to see the hand of the lord in every day. I love you and am so grateful for your support. -Sister Haviland P.S. The email for all of the missionaries has changed this week. even with this change we have been told that our mail should be forwarded to our new email throughout the duration of our mission. My new email is hanna.haviland@ missionary.org Previous Letter Next Letter

71cecf40-4419-4df6-86c4-8fdc9f91176d Elder Toone Back to Missionary Letters This week we did some service and I got to use a sickle and hack up a yard with billions of weeds. That was fun. We had a lesson with Bruce and invited him and his girlfriend to church! We went over early to their house before church and made sure they were ready to go. Bruce didn't answer and we got scared he wasn't going to wake up. He called us right after and said he was actually in the shower getting ready. We got hyped and they both came to church and heard a phenomenal fast and testimony meeting! They loved it. Bruce said he has nothing against being baptized and now that he is showing good interest and coming to church he will be on date very soon! We also met Two Feathers, this Indian guy at an RV park. He gave us a zucchini and now we are teaching him the lessons! I know the church is true. I can't express what my mission has meant to me. It's changed my life forever. I love Jesus! I'll be home next week probably. Excited to see everyone but I'm gonna miss the full time work I will see you all later! Love you! Previous Letter Next Letter
