This week has been full of just saying goodbye to all the members and finishing up last minute things. This week we went back into the negatives. We got to about -30° I guess it's just a good send off from Montana. Oh also this week we went and said goodbye to someone who lives in the heart of uptown Butte. We were walking and on the side of the road was a human crap. It was absolutely disgusting!! Okay lets bring the spirit back lol. I have felt so blessed to have written emails every week and to testify of the Savior. I was thinking a lot this week of what I want to write for my last email. It could go in so many different directions but I wanted to write down my testimony. How amazing is this gospel and our Saviors love. I know and I have personally witnessed how aware he is of each one of us. He wants us all to have joy in this life and become like him. Without trails we wouldn't have been shaped into the person we are today. With the Lord wanting us to be like him that means that sometimes we have to struggle. In that struggle we learn to rely on him. His Atonement is so real and nothing we ever do will be out of reach or too deep were the Savior hasn't already been. He reaches out in love constantly. I know that one of his biggest signs that he loved us is that he restored his gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon with Heavenly Father directing him. Never doubt his love for you. Never doubt your faith because it is good enough! We got two new referrals and one of them is already on date to be baptized!! It still amazes me how the work goes forward even when we are stuck inside!! God is good!! There is still no word about when we can go back out or when we can go back to church. We are really working of developing our patience here in quarantine!! Its hard to feel effective but we must be doing something right because God is leading us to some amazing people!! This week went crazy fast!! And we get our transfer calls on Sunday!! Its weird with the new missionaries coming out, we are actually having transfers on Monday so our pday will be moved to Tuesday next week!! I am really hoping sister Tanner and I don't get moved because I'm really want to be here for Vincent's baptism and I love sister tanner!!! We also had a great lesson with a less active we are working with!! They left the church last year from anti they read on tithing but we have meet with them since I got here and they expressed their desire to go back to church when they open up again!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! This quarantine I think has really got people rethinking!! The longer we are in here, I wont lie, the harder it gets BUT we also see more and more blessings and miracles every week also!! Its a great time to be a missionaries!! I hate to think I have less than a year left!! ⅓ GONE!! Also Happy Fathers day!! I am blessed with some great examples of fathers in my life and I'm grateful for all of you!! Especially my dad!! 6766f41d-bfda-494b-997d-5fcf666a7e04 Elders Maurice Perkins Back to Missionary Letters Maningue Contatos Well this week was pretty good, right now Elder Ingman and his companion are teaching all the people that we have been teaching for the last little while and so my companion and I have been doing a lot of contacts and so that is basically what my week consisted of. Tuesday, we did contacts and were able to find some awesome people. Afterwards we had a lesson and then it started pouring rain. Some of the hardest rain I have seen in my life. Wednesday we did more contacts and there was more rain. To end the day we visited Brother John and it was an awesome visit. He had lost his phone and was frustrated but after we visited him, he told us that he knows that God loves him because he sent us in his way to visit him! It was pretty cool and he is progressing well! Thursday we visited some people from Mutotope 3's area. There are no more missionaries working in that area so we are covering for the people they were teaching. We visited them with a member and it went very well. Friday was good. We started visiting all of the contacts and there have been some really awesome lessons. The Lord has been blessing us and putting people in our way. In the morning we were able to sit down with a young man that stopped us in the street to talk and say that he wanted a visit, it was awesome. Afterwards I did some interviews for the people Mutotope 1 has been teaching and they went well! Saturday was an interesting and good day. We did more contacts and invited a lot of people to church. As well we had English class that we taught which is always fun. Sunday was a good day. There were a lot of people that came to church and some friends of members that came to church for the first time as well. We will start to teach them this week! Anyways this past little bit has been reminded me of when I first got in the area and I am so grateful for the adventure that I have been on here. I know that this is the Lord's work and that He guides us in everything we do! I am excited for the adventures and experiences to come! Estamos juntos! Até próximo! I am going to be moving forward in life and will be returning home from my mission. It was after careful and prayerful consideration along with much discussion with medical advisors and my mission president. I love serving the Lord and I will never forget the great blessings that come from being in His service. I am grateful for everyone who followed and supported me on this although short lived, wonderful path. I pray for the opportunity to return at a later time and continue my service. A short recounting of what went on during my previous weeks: We stayed inside, called people, took naps, went on walks, watched movies (approved ones), played a board game when appropriate, worked out, read, and listened to music. It was pretty basic and that continued on everyday. I can't remember much of what happened really, but I remember how hard it was to enjoy this work that I love so much. Bringing others to salvation is one of the greatest works we can do in this life. I can bear testimony of the reality of Jesus Christ and all that he has done and is yet to do. I promise that all who want to grow closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father can do so by reading The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It was translated by a Prophet of God. The promise present within the book is, that all who read and pray about the message contained within and do so with a sincere heart, having real intent, and faith in Christ, can and will receive a witness of the truthfulness of the things written by the power of the Holy Ghost. ce04ad9c-d0c9-44af-92ca-38debe2e4bd3 Sister Kaden Lee Back to Missionary Letters 0 to 365 real quick hi friends! how are you?? be honest. this week was pretty goof. a lot is going on but I'm handling it like a champ💪🏼😤. okay so on monday , I played some spikeball and some other game where we mixed kickball and cricket (a big workout) and I enjoyed both activities especially because I was playing with a bunch of 20 year olds... very wholesome 🙃. on tuesday we had dinner with the Eldridge family and they have the cutest dog named Bruce and I had to get a picture with him. #itsthelittlethings on wednesday , we went knocking and unintentionally knocked an active members door, brother and sister Perkins. when she opened the door I was like, "OH! I KNOW YOU!" and she said, "were you expecting someone else?" I just about died. she welcomed us into her home, got her husband, introduced us to all the cats, and let us share a message. they gave us some referrals to visit then sent us on our way. the members here are GOATS. I adore them. thursday morning, Elder Eardley and Elder Garza called and were like, "hey so we just found out our apartment manager hates Elders living here... can we swap apartments?" and I was like, "yeah sure" then they were like, "HAHAHA it was a pRaNk! happy one year! what are we doing to celebrate?" about 20 minutes later, they sent a text that said, "Hey uh you guys wanna go to bdubs at noon for no particular reason?" so we went to buffalo wild wings with the district for no particular reason then taught some epic lessons to our friends, Judy, Susie, and Javier. pray for them. pls. we woke up on friday to messages from the Elders telling us that they're sick and won't make it to service at a food pantry. which was a blessing because someone had to do their job and that someone was Amy. she had a lot of questions for us and she was also so kind and fun. hopefully we will get to see her again. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 there was a marathon on saturday and we got to direct traffic and the runners. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH it was so chaotic. I loved it. Sorry I am literally the worst at writing weeklys! - Feburary Transfers! We got 14 new missionaries and got to help them have a good first impression of our Mission! - Mission Leadership Council which was camping & backpacking themed - Exchanges in Weaver Lake! I got to go back to my old apartment #sofun - Zone Conference! 3 Nephi 5:13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life. - Lot's of late nights helping Sister Gochnour paint a backdrop! So fun! - Exchanges with New Prague! I went with Sister Wilson who is a brand new missionary! - Exchanges with Alexandria! They live 2 hours away so we got permission to stay the night! I have never had a worse night haha! They left a window open and it was SO COLD. plus they live right next to a train track so I woke up to a train coming by twice hahah. I literally thought an earthquake was happening - Lamb of God concert! - March madness! We're reading the whole Book of Mormon this month and I'm only 70 pages behind #gome - I hit 17 months as a missionary yesterday! Our friends are doing good! Sadly our friend Damoan who was on date for baptism is no longer on date. He hadn't been coming to church and he recently just lost a loved one which is so sad. So prayers for Damoan would be much appreciated! We are also teaching a super awesome friend named Kristian! Some missionaries in Chicago called us one night and told us they had a friend who just moved to Bloomington and is coming to church with us on Sunday and he did! We've been teaching him ever since and he is SO AWESOME! Lot's of miracles happening around here and God's hand is so evident in all of it! LOVE YOU ALL! Have the best week ever! We finished our month of May goal to lose 500lb, sadly we didn't make it😅we lost about 470lb.BUT we did meet our goal to get 500 new people to church so that was good! This week was exciting, after two months of not being able to get any fast food, our president said we could again! We have also been getting a lot of new missionaries that are being reassigned from out of states! We got two new elders in our district so now it is 8 elders and us two sisters! We are a little out numbered.. Elyria, my last area got a new sister and they came to get some stuff from us last night! The new sister told us about what it was like to go home for two months and that would be so hard! But we are excited to have all these new missionaries! Sister Tanner and I really hope we get another sister soon! A few of our people are progressing really well! We had a lot of powerful lessons this week! We have developed a good relationship with Brad! Him and his fiance invited us to go get ice cream with them and their baby the other night and we had to say no because of quarantine. We were so sad! It would have been a great opportunity to get to know his fiance because we have been trying to get her to join our calls! And their baby is so cute!! Not to mention Mitchels ice cream is the best! We were talking to Brad's relative in the ward who referred him to us about their invite and they were so surprised because apparently she doesn't open up to many people or let people around her baby!! It is extremely frustrating to miss out on opportunities to meet and teach people in person but we are still excited they are comfortable with us enough to invite us! Yesterday we finally got a lesson with Juan!! Each time we teach him he always has good questions and we can tell he has a real desire to learn but he is really hard to get in contact with because he is so busy! We did get to commit him to read a verse every day that we send him so email me your favorite scriptures! He really want to know the Book of Mormon is true! The weather has been really nice out here! Sister Tanner and I are out side every day and we have found some really beautiful parks and the other day we went to a Botanical garden! Probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! This one guy spent 60+ years creating 6acres of this garden!! We also went to Cleveland a few p-day ago and saw the Rock n Roll hall of fame...but couldn't go in...one day!!! We finally got Dylan to sign his baptism record so he can be an official member! He has been working a ton! Poor guys between being a single parent with his kids on the weekend and work all week he has no time so we haven't been able to talk to him much. It is a continuing struggle to find people in quarantine but we are so grateful for the people we get to teach! It is easy to ask when this is gonna end, especially when we see everything opening up but Elder Christofferson spoke to us a few weeks ago and one the main topics was stop asking when and ask what! What can we do to keep the work going! What do we need to learn! This whole thing has taught me a lot about patience!! I'm so grateful I get to be a missionary at this time!! It is nearly unbelievable that this is my last week as a full time missionary. I have love my time here and am so grateful that I have been so blessed by my loving Heavenly Father to be able to come on my mission. It has warmed my heart and amazed me to see how many tender mercies the Lord has placed in my path as I have been placed exactly where I needed go be. He has been so good to me - as always! When I have had to say my goodbyes to those I love on my mission, I choose to share this scripture: Moroni 8:3, "I am mindful of you always in my prayers, continually praying unto God the Father in the name of his Holy Child, Jesus, that he, through his infinite goodness and grace, will keep you through the endurance of faith on his name to the end." I feel the same for you all. Thank you for all the love and support you have shown me! I hope you have felt my prayers in your behalf over these past months. I would love to hear from you!! Anyways if you are reading this it's because you want to hear how I'm doing, the answer is good :) My hands however not so much, I'll get to that… Bullet Points · It was Hermano Marcos's Birthday!!! FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS!!!! We made him a cute card and gave him a little chocolate · Cesar Vallejo… There was nothing to say about this. We went to a part of our area we don't go to often and we realized why. The best explanation is a ghost town with maybe the exception of 2 people who live there. · Gato y Raton means Cat and Mouse. We had a missionary night and played this game. It was so funny to watch everyone's faces, I was really stressed but it was fun! We played with two ties and passed them around but, if you get stuck with both ties then you lose haha! It was so entertaining =) · We found a new friend whose name is Mauricio, he is awesome and has really good questions. When we shared phone numbers he asked what to put our name in as. We told him to put the missionaries in and he said no… I am going to put mis blancitas amigas… HAHA I don't know where that came from. · Peach cobbler!! That is all that needs to be said other than I have the best comp ever! · The miracle of Evelin, We found her last Monday night. The Tabernacle choir is singing in Lima the 22 of February and we are inviting people to come and see. So we knocked on a random door… the first door we knocked was Evelin!! She is so cute and we had 2 lessons with her this week. Miracles are everywhere :) · Walter… Yeah… No one believed us on this one… Let me explain. Walter is our friend, he is interesting. We can't text him because he can't receive texts. So we call him for everything. Well he answers the phone but he doesn't talk. The elders who sent the reference thought it was so weird so we had them call the district council. HE ANSWERED THEM!! Hermana Mortensen and I were shocked!! So we set up a lesson with him with the elders to have a passalong lesson. Great idea! well the elders waited with us for 30 minutes with Walter on the phone not saying anything… We were right… but we will keep trying to contact him :) · REJECTED!! I have been told not a lot this week. I think I know how to take rejection with a smile now. I've practiced :) · Alexander!!! We put him on date for baptism!! 15th of March here we come!! :D Please pray for him. · Sad truth of missionary work :( We dropped two baptism dates this week and it was sad. We have been working so hard to help our friends but we will keep working hard! · Now about the title :) I will write more about it in my spiritual thought Spiritual thought I am so excited to share this spiritual thought with you guys!! We sanded flowers off a wall by hand :) It was a service project and it was really fun and really hard. Peruvians make their houses out of cement. And they paint directly onto the cement… We held the sandpaper and took all the flowers off the wall! It took a lot of work and time to scrub this wall until the paint was gone because there are air pockets in the cement. But just like our lives sometimes we choose to do something that is hard to get rid of. They chose to paint the flowers and they liked them at first, but with time we realize we might not like the decisions we made in the past. That is why we have people who can help us grow and clean the walls in our house. Through the power of Baptism and repentance We can be completely forgiven of all our sins and past decisions. Even if we liked them at the time, things change. Find forgiveness in your life through the power of the holy ghost. Start slowly removing the paint and other debris on your walls. One part at a time even if it hurts a little. It's not supposed to be easy. Sandpaper is what we used to remove the paint and little by little we began to see the cement once again. Keep going. You might not be able to get it all, but you can find the sure foundation again, Jesus Christ. I love you guys!
